‘A’ Team Netball County Finals

On Thursday 24th May, the ‘A’ team netballers headed over to Northstowe Secondary School for the County Finals. It was raining quite heavily on arrival and there was a lot of lightning, so the start was delayed until 345pm.

There were 17 teams in the final, from all over Cambridgeshire and we were one of 3 teams from the SCSSP.

We came 3rd to qualify for the County Finals so were placed in Pool D for our first 4 matches. We won all of them and in the 2nd round we qualified for division 1 with Milton School and 2 schools from Peterborough.

This division was very hard, as we were obviously one of the top 4 schools in the competition. We won our game against Milton 2-1 but lost after two very tight matches, against the two Peterborough schools, 3-2 (against the eventual winners) and 2-1 (against the 2nd placed school)

Round 1 scores - 4-1, 5-2, 3-1, 3-0

Round 2 scores - 3-2, 0-2, 1-2

Swavesey came 3rd in the County Finals overall and we were the top school to finish in the SCSSP.

Swavesey were outstanding in showing teamwork, sportsmanship, determination, and resilience. I am so very proud of the improvement you have shown since coming to netball club for the first time in September. I’m going to miss coaching you.

I am looking forward to September, when hopefully lots of new Year 6s and 5s will join the club, which will take place on a Monday.
