On Wednesday 8th October, Swavesey Primary School supported Mental Health Awareness day by dressing in bright yellow and taking time to discuss not only the importance of looking after your own mental wellbeing but also some mindfulness stategies that we can all use to help us feel calm. Here are some of the children's thoughts on their experience in school that day:
From Swavesey to Greece, Ethan represents 'Team GB'!
Lots of happy faces at a super fun event!
Hard work, resilence and dedication leads to amazing achievements and success worth celebrating...
Big smiles after a long weekend of tough competition...
Our Preschool children enjoyed a wonderful Autumnal walk around the school grounds. They visited the chickens and sheep, explored the outdoor environment, and collected natural treasures like acorns, conkers, and leaves. Inspired by a story read by their practitioners, the children gathered items from the book to help decorate our seasonal display board. A lovely way to celebrate the changing season!
This week, Year 3/4 have been getting hands-on with their Stone Age learning! On Thursday, they took part in a range of practical activities inspired by Stone Age life, including cave painting, weaving and clay pot making.
These creative sessions have given pupils the chance to immerse themselves in ancient techniques and explore how early humans expressed themselves through art and craft. Over the next two weeks, the children will continue to develop their skills in clay work, carving, weaving and painting to deepen their understanding of this fascinating period in history.
The children showed great enthusiasm and creativity as they took part in each activity. Some of them shared their reflections on the experience:
“I enjoyed the weaving because it was fun, even though it was quite tricky.”
“The cave painting on Mod-Roc was a little hard but I liked drawing and painting the animals.”
“In clay work, we made thumb pots. I enjoyed making the coils and smoothing them out.”
Lots of smiles, team work and determination, competing in five different challenges, throughout the afternoon.
A Message from the new School Council!
