Message from Mrs Ogilvie

The children have continued to make me proud this week with their hard work and kindness. We had our first celebration assembly today and teachers highlighted children that had followed our 5R's (ready, resilient, responsible, resourceful and reflective), and they received certificates. The teachers found this job a challenge because so many children are showing that they are great learners. I look forward to celebrating again next week – our focus this term will be on readiness. It was good to see lots of you at the phase information meetings this week, if you were unable to make it, we have linked all of the information shared including the presentation and the overview of this term's learning and optional home learning - see below.

Next week is National Coding Week and the children will be taking part in a range of activities.

I hope you have a lovely weekend,

                                                                   Lynsey Ogilvie, Headteacher

If you would like any further information, please contact the school office.

Pupil Premium

At our parent's information sessions, we also shared information about how you can sign up to receive support through Pupil Premium funding for your child.

Pupil Premium is extra funding given to schools to help children who may face barriers to learning—such as those from low-income families, in care or adopted, or with parents in the armed forces.

If you receive benefits like Income Support or income-based JSA/ESA, your child may qualify. Even if your child gets Universal Free School Meals (Reception–Year 2), you must still apply to unlock Pupil Premium funding.

For more information see: Pupil Premium Information

School Uniform and Lost Property

The school uniform dress code is as follows:

  • Black or grey trousers, shorts, skirts or pinafores
  • White or red polo shirt (with or without school logo)
  • Red cardigan, or sweatshirt (with or without school logo)
  • Red and white summer dress (we request no play suits in EYFS, please)
  • Plain white, grey or black socks or tights
  • Sensible black shoes (sandals may be worn in the summer but these need to be practical for indoor and outdoor learning and play)
  • A sun hat for hot days and a waterproof coat for cold/wet days which are suitable/appropriate for school and weather conditions.

Children should not be coming to school in any other items of clothing.

Please make sure that you label every item of your child's school uniform. Every week we have multiple 'lost' items that we cannot return as they are unnamed. If it is named, it will be returned to its owner!

We have a new ottoman in the front entrance for storing unnamed items of lost property. This will be cleared out regularly as we do not have space to store huge amounts of lost property.

See below for second-hand uniform, if you need anything.

Birthday Celebrations in School

We know how special birthdays are for children, and we love celebrating them together at school! To help keep things consistent and inclusive, we kindly ask that children do not bring sweets or treats to share with their class on their birthday in school. Instead, we have a special way of celebrating birthdays as a whole school community, which all children can enjoy.

Healthy Snack Reminder

As a healthy eating school, we encourage nutritious snacks at breaktime. Please send snacks such as:

  • Fresh fruit
  • Vegetable sticks
  • Rice cakes
  • Breadsticks
  • Crackers

We ask that snacks do not include high-sugar or high-salt items like chocolate, sweets, or crisps.

Thank you for your support in helping us promote healthy habits for all the children.

Dear Parents,

This term we have decided to participate again in a ‘Christmas Design Project’ run by Cauliflower Cards. The project aims to encourage pupils’ creativity and design skills whilst also raising funds for our school.

Your child has been creating his/her own Christmas design which can be professionally printed to produce personalised Christmas Cards, Gift Labels, Wrapping Paper and/or Mugs.

Not only would it be very exciting for your child to see his/her work as a finished printed product, the cards themselves are great for sending a more personal greeting to friends and family at Christmas and the Mugs are great for gifts!

Orders and payment must be made online using the unique code located at the top of the pupil order form. Please refer to your order form for further instructions.

Each order form must be unique so please do not photocopy the form for other members of your family, you can get extra copies from your school.

All artwork where orders have been placed must be returned to school by: 3rd October

Cards will be delivered by the beginning of December.

Yours sincerely

Swavesey PTA

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
