Thank you to everyone who supported the event by organising baking, purchasing and eating the cakes!
We have also had some great sporting events, including the dodgeball festival which was enjoyed by all who attended, and the netball tournament, in which the A and B teams both performed really well and showed great team spirit – you can read more in the blog articles below. There are also amazing individual successes for Ethan in representing Team GB in the Tang Soo Do European Championships. Amelie, who won the East Region Gymnastics Championships. Isla who won Dance National Finals. Well done to all of them; you can read more in the blogs below.
Unfortunately, the football competition had to be cancelled this week due to the poor weather conditions.
I hope you have a brilliant half-term holiday and we look forward to seeing all of the children back on Monday 3rd November. We hope to see many of you at the annual Fireworks display on Friday 7th November – see more details below.

A Message from Jimmy's
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Swavesey Primary School for once again supporting Jimmy’s with your incredibly generous Harvest donation.
For people experiencing homelessness, the warmth of a meal, a safe space, and basic essentials is not guaranteed. Your support helps provide nourishing meals, toiletries, and welcoming spaces, giving individuals not only immediate care but also the foundation to rebuild their lives.
Thanks to donors like you, last year we were able to provide 40,000 meals across our services and accommodations. Every gift—whether food, financial, or time—helps us create pathways to independence, personal growth, and dignity for people in need.
As one of our residents shared: “Jimmy’s gave me emotional help, stability, and the support to get my life back in order again.” Your donation directly contributes to stories like this, making a tangible impact in people’s lives.
By choosing to give this harvest season, you’ve turned abundance into action. Your kindness ensures that those who are struggling feel valued, supported, and part of a caring community.
From all of us at Jimmy’s Cambridge, thank you for helping transform harvest into home.

Lost Property
This box was empty at the start of term!
We have acquired lots of lost property since the start of term and would love to reunite it with the owners, this is un-named lost property (or where the name is no longer legible). If you think you are missing anything then please pop into reception at any time. Lost items that are named are returned to the child's cloakroom so please can we encourage you to name all items of clothing and bottles.
Unfortunately we cannot store items indefinitely so we will be recycling the items at the end of the first week after half term.

Pupil Premium
At our parent's information sessions, we also shared information about how you can sign up to receive support through Pupil Premium funding for your child.
Pupil Premium is extra funding given to schools to help children who may face barriers to learning—such as those from low-income families, in care or adopted, or with parents in the armed forces.
If you receive benefits like Income Support or income-based JSA/ESA, your child may qualify. Even if your child gets Universal Free School Meals (Reception–Year 2), you must still apply to unlock Pupil Premium funding.

New Intake - Talk and Tours 2026
We are holding four Talk and Tours this term for families with children starting in Reception in September 2026. The format will be a tour with Mrs Ogilvie, across the school 'at work', to see our environment, organisation and an opportunity to ask questions. These are aimed primarily at parents; there are opportunities later in the year for the children to visit the school. Please be aware that if you bring your child, you may not be able to visit all areas as the school will be 'in action'. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pushchairs around the school tour.
They will last approximately an hour. The next dates are as follows:
- Wednesday 5th November at 9.30
- Wednesday 19th November at 9.30am
If you would like to attend one of these meetings, please complete the form below.

Welcome to our ‘online safety’ advice, guidance and support page, ‘Wake Up Wednesday (WUW) - what parents / carers need to know’. Each week we will post articles of interest to our newsletter that should help you and your child.
Children regularly use different websites and apps from their parents, and it can be hard to keep up in this ever-changing digital world. These weekly updates from the National College aim to cover important topics such as online safety, mental health, wellbeing, and climate change.

Could you foster?
At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
