It certainly feels as though summer has finally arrived, with the sunshine bringing a real sense of energy and excitement across the school. This is always one of our busiest and most enjoyable times of the year, and this newsletter is packed full of information about the many wonderful events taking place over the coming weeks.
We have so much to look forward to, including the Summer Fair, Swavesey Has Got Talent, Sports Day, our Year 5/6 production, the Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly, and of course the children preparing to move up to their new classes. Each of these moments offers a chance to celebrate our children’s achievements, talents and growth, and to come together as a school community.
Alongside these upcoming events, we have also recently enjoyed some fantastic successes in sport across the school. Our children have represented Swavesey brilliantly, showing determination, teamwork and skill at a range of events. You can read full details of their amazing performances in the Latest News section of this newsletter.
It promises to be a fantastic end to the term, and we look forward to sharing these special occasions with you all.

Summer Fair – Friday 26th June
Message from the PTA
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our School Summer Fair is just around the corner, and we would love your help to make it a fantastic afternoon for our children.
We are currently looking for donations for some of our most popular stalls and would be very grateful for any of the following:
- Sweets – individually wrapped sweets, chocolate bars, lollies and other treats for our sweet stall.
- Tombola Prizes – Toiletries, unopened gifts, toys, games, books, chocolates, or any other new or nearly new items that would make great prizes.
- Soft Toys – clean, good-quality soft toys in good condition for our teddy stall tombola.
Donations can be dropped off at the school office or classrooms from now until the fair.
We are also looking for volunteers to help on the day. Whether you can spare an hour setting up, running a stall, or helping tidy away afterwards, your support would be hugely appreciated. If you are able to help, please email pta@swavesey.cambs.sch.uk.
Finally, a reminder that our raffle tickets have now been sent home. We have some fantastic prizes on offer, including an Ooni Pizza Oven, vouchers from local businesses, family experiences and much more. Please help us by selling tickets to family and friends. Additional tickets are available from the school office if needed.
Every donation, raffle ticket sold, and hour volunteered helps us raise valuable funds that directly benefit the children at Swavesey Primary School.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you at the Summer Fair on Friday 26th June, 3:30pm–5:30pm.
Kind regards,
Swavesey Primary School PTA

Sports Day - Monday 29th June
We are excited to be looking ahead to our upcoming Sports Day on Monday 29th June.
The day will be split into two sessions:
- KS1: 9:20am – 11:30am
- KS2: 1:20pm – 3:00pm
We are currently expecting good weather and are very much looking forward to a fun-filled day of sport, teamwork and encouragement. However, as we know all too well with British summertime, the weather can be unpredictable. In the event of conditions such as heavy rain or extreme heat that would be unsafe for the children, we do have contingency plans in place.
A final decision will be made on Sunday 28th June, and if we do need to cancel or make changes, this will be communicated via email on that day.
A full letter with further details about arrangements for Sports Day will be sent out next week. We look forward to what is always a fantastic and enjoyable event for the children!

Swavesey Has Got Talent – A Week to Celebrate!
This week has been absolutely fantastic as we have held the in-school heats for Swavesey Has Got Talent. It has been a real joy to see so many of our children step forward to share their incredible talents and skills. From singing and dancing to magic, comedy and musicianship, the confidence, creativity and enthusiasm on display have truly been inspiring.
Our staff have had the incredibly difficult task of selecting finalists from such a high standard of performances, and we know just how challenging those decisions have been. Every child who took part should feel extremely proud of themselves – it takes courage to perform, and each and every participant contributed to making this week so special.
We now look forward to the Grand Final on Friday 26th June, where our finalists will perform in front of the whole school in what is always a wonderful celebration of talent. Parents and carers of the children selected to perform will receive an invitation letter with details to come and join us for this exciting event.
Well done to all of our talented performers – you have made this week one to remember!

Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly
We are looking forward to a very special moment in the school calendar as we prepare to celebrate our wonderful Year 6 pupils and their time at Swavesey.
The Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly will take place on Tuesday 14th July at 9:30am. We kindly ask parents and carers to arrive from 9:20am so that we are ready to begin promptly.
This assembly is always a heartfelt and memorable occasion, giving us the opportunity to reflect on the children’s achievements, growth and many happy memories during their time at our school. It is a chance to celebrate all that they have accomplished and to wish them well as they move on to the next stage of their journey.
We very much hope that many of you will be able to join us for this special event.

Mobile Phones Reminder
A gentle reminder that if your child brings a mobile phone to school, it must be handed in at the school office at the start of the day. This is for important safeguarding purposes, ensuring all devices are stored securely during the school day.
We also ask that a permission form is completed for any child bringing a phone into school.
Please contact the school office to request this form or if you have any further questions.

School Uniform and Lost Property
Please help!!! We have acquired lots of lost property since the start of term and would love to reunite it with their owners, but we can’t as it is all unnamed. If you think you are missing anything, then please pop into reception.
If it doesn’t get collected by the Easter holidays, then it will go to charity.
School Uniform and Lost Property
The school uniform dress code is as follows:
- Black or grey trousers, shorts, skirts or pinafores
- White or red polo shirt (with or without school logo)
- Red cardigan, or sweatshirt (with or without school logo)
- Red and white summer dress (we request no play suits in EYFS, please)
- Plain white, grey or black socks or tights
- Sensible black shoes (sandals may be worn in the summer but these need to be practical for indoor and outdoor learning and play)
- A sun hat for hot days and a waterproof coat for cold/wet days which are suitable/appropriate for school and weather conditions.
Our PE Kit - children come to school in their PE kit on PE days -please ensure it is appropriate for the weather conditions.
- Black, grey or navy shorts
- Plain short-sleeved T-Shirt in your child's house colour (with or without school logo) - red, blue, purple, yellow or green
- Black, grey or navy jogging bottoms/leggings
- Plain jumper or hooded top which is appropriate for PE sessions, i.e. does not restrict movement and provides warmth for outdoor PE
- Trainers for outdoor PE with good grip
- Plain sports socks
Children should not be coming to school in any other items of clothing.
Whilst we ask for our children to have specific items of clothing in certain colours, as you can see there is flexibility within this and items do not have to have the school logo on and do not have to be from a specific shop or a specific brand. We do use the company 'Total clothing' to provide our logo imprinted clothing/items (details of which can be found below) but you do not have to purchase them.
Our PTA ( PTA@swavesey.cambs.sch.uk ) have a permanent stock of 'pre-loved' uniform items and the poster below provides details of how to enquire about this second-hand clothing.
Please make sure that you label every item of your child's school uniform. Every week we have multiple 'lost' items that we cannot return as they are unnamed. If it is named, it will be returned to its owner!

Welcome to our ‘online safety’ advice, guidance and support page, ‘Wake Up Wednesday (WUW) - what parents / carers need to know’. Each week we will post articles of interest to our newsletter that should help you and your child.
Children regularly use different websites and apps from their parents, and it can be hard to keep up in this ever-changing digital world. These weekly updates from the National College aim to cover important topics such as online safety, mental health, wellbeing, and climate change.

Could you foster?
At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
