Updates from Mrs Norden

The last couple of weeks have been very busy with lots of exciting adventures happening across the school.

National Science week saw us all building bridges and seeing the 'connection' between the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).  As well as each year group exploring specific areas of science.

Reception had an Explorers' day, learning more about, and focusing on, our immediate natural environment.  This was to be part of the school's wider Local Area project with visits to Fen Drayton Lakes, but the rain has caused such a high water table and flooding that this has now had to be postponed completely until later in the sumer term.  I would like to thank Miss McAuley and Mr Thomson for all their organising and liaising with the RSPB warden to maintain safety, and you for your patience with the changes. 

Year 3/4 had a visit from some French Exchange students staying with families locally on Tuesday.  We had a wonderful afternoon where everyone was improving their knowledge and understanding of each other's culture and language.  A huge thank you needs to go to Miss Butler for her ideas and organisation of the resources and to Madame Monument from SVC for facilitating this opportunity.

There have also been several sports events including Netball, Rugby and Football Tournaments with our children showing great teamwork and sportsmanship.

Last Updates for the Spring Term

PTA Cake Sale for Monday - please see poster below.  Donations of individual cakes greatly received.  The sale will take place on the back playground at the end of the day, in the case of inclement weather it will be in the hall with us using the doors as a one way system for entrance and exit.

Lost Property - We have lots of lost property at the school so please pop into the school main entrance lobby and take a look before it goes to our nearly new sale. We will put the boxes out in the front playground if afternoons are dry next week so please come along and check them.

If you are in need of second hand uniform then do please email the office and let us know what you are after, and we will see if we can help!

Chicken Pox and Eye infections - We have cases of both chicken pox and eye infections across both preschool and reception.  Please be vigilant in identifying symptoms and taking action to reduce the spread.
