Updates from Mrs Norden

Our Year 6s took their End of KS2 Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) last week.  We are so proud of how resilient and conscientious they have been.  Well done to you all, for all your efforts.

Year 2 have also begun their formal End of KS1 assessments, which are used to support teacher assessment for the DfE, with great resourcefulness. They will continue to have papers interspersed between normal teaching sessions through to the end of this half term.

We have had some staff changes this term welcoming Mrs Faiers to our Year 5/6 teaching team, Mrs Amosova to our EY&P and midday supervision teams and Mrs Keen to our EY&P team.  We hope they will enjoy their time at Swavesey with us.

Sadly we have said goodbye to Miss Dawson from our admin/finance and midday supervisor teams, who will be moving to new challenges working at the Royal Society of Chemistry.  We thank Miss Dawson for all her hard work and support while she has been with us, and wish her the very best in her new role.

Last week we received information that there were a few near misses on the road where some of our older children were scooting dangerously across the road without looking into oncoming traffic.  This left drivers, and other pedestrians, very shaken with most of the children oblivious to the danger they had put themselves in. Please can I ask you all to chat to your children about maintaining safety when travelling to school (and around the village generally), especially when on their bikes and scooters.  We want them all to arrive at their destinations safely.

Summer Term Updates

Lateness -

We continue to have a high number of late attendance and ask that you ensure children are in school by 8.50am for registration.  Arriving late causes children to become anxious and can mean they miss the start of teaching sessions leading to uncertainty on what to do and further worry.  Additionally, if they arrive after 8.55am they need to enter through the front entrance to adhere to safeguarding protocols, but high numbers are continues to cause queues, miscommunication and unnecessary workload for the administrative staff.
