Updates from Mrs Norden

As you will see from the news article links below, we celebrated National Poetry Day last week (5th Oct), the theme for which was refuge.  The children read poems by various poets and wrote some fabulous poetry of their own, some of which can be read in the article.

This week, Year 3/4 went to Wandlebury Country Park for a Stone Age to Iron Age exploration day.  Despite the fact that Swans' visit yesterday was wet and muddy, they still had a thoroughly enjoyable time.  The children were attentive, polite and asked fabulous questions, all of which were praised by the Wandlebury staff.  'Well Done' Year 3/4 for being such great role models and ambassadors of the school.  I know they have also learnt lots of new facts to share with their families and you can find out more of their adventures in their news article below.

We have our PTA 'Bake Off' on Monday and our judges are really looking forward to seeing all the entries.  Please see the poster below for specific details.  The children's entries can be brought directly into the hall through the playground doors on Monday morning at drop off.  At the end of the day, entries will be sold, unless you've requested them not to be. The cake sale will be in the back playground if the weather is dry, but in the school hall if the weather is inclement.  As we have sports clubs after school on Mondays who use both spaces, please can we ask that 'choosing' is as efficient as possible.

Plans are in place for our annual PTA Fireworks display on Friday 3rd November, and the poster for this can be found below.  Classrooms will be open from 4.15pm to 5.15pm on 3rd for parents and carers to have a chance to look at their children's work as previously explained.

We have accrued a fair amount of unnamed lost property and have received some donations of second-hand uniform.  Our PTA helpers have taken everything away, washed where needed and sorted into size categories to support us in being able to sell these on to our families.  Please see the poster below for details.

To reduce our lost property pile, please make sure all items are named.  If it is named, we can return it to its owner.

Please remember we have our parent/carer consultations next week.  Instructions for accessing the Scopay video call can be found here if you can't find the link previously provided.

Hopefully, the weekend will be drier than it is as I finish this newsletter, and it doesn't stop 'play' for your activities.
