Updates from Mrs Norden

This week seems to have gone by swiftly with flurries of activity throughout the week.

It started with Mrs Prickett leaving us for her maternity leave on Monday afternoon, very quickly followed by the birth of Hunter Prickett, at 23.30hrs on Tuesday evening!  Mrs Prickett and baby Hunter are doing well, despite the unexpected timing, and we send the whole family our very best wishes.

Celebrating 'Number Day' today has brought our busy week to an end.  It has been wonderful to see maths in action across the school through today's theme, as well as, the number linked attire.  As you will be able to see from today's news article (linked below), the Reception staff team have gone 'number blocks' mad!

Our numbers of positive Covid cases appear to have slowed, and we are hoping that this is an indication of reduced transmission within groups.  We thank our families who have been proactive in testing where symptoms have been seen, or there have been cases in classes, and encourage everyone to maintain this vigilance.  Additionally, please make sure you let us know if you are taking children for PCR tests, as well as the results, as this information is vital in supporting us with decision-making relating to safety measures in school and being able to monitor case numbers.                                                                                                                                                                                                                        _{Anna-Claire Norden

Admin Updates:

1. Illness - it is vitally important that when emailing and leaving answer phone messages that you let us know what is wrong with your children.  If you do not provide this information the admin team will have to ring you to find out.  The DfE absence coding for absences is complex because of Covid and regularly changes.  This data is then used by the LA, DfE and Government to build local area information of need and supports decision-making.  As a school we are therefore legally required to ensure we code children into our system accurately. Additionally, the information you provide helps us to support ongoing safety measures and decision-making.  

2. Dinners - please ensure you pre-book your children's school dinner meals, including for Reception dn year 1 and 2, preferably a week in advance. We have had many children expecting school hot dinners, or school packed lunches, this week which were not booked.  This leads to difficulty in accommodating them where food has not been ordered or prepared in advance.

3. Emails to the office - please can we remind you to put your child's name and class in the subject of any email as not all admin staff (or those who may stand in on occasion) can identify this information from the senders name and so it can lead to us taking longer than necessary to resolve any issues or pass messages on.
