Updates from Mrs Norden

We have reached the end of a busy half term, which has seen many changes to Covid guidance, as well as, a variety of activities for the school. 

Thank you for all your support throughout, especially through the many confusing updates for isolation periods and testing requirements.  This has supported us in being far less affected by absences than the many other schools and ensuring our teaching has all remained in person with no primary classes having to return to remote learning.

Although, not all activities have been back to full pre-Covid routines there has been so much to enjoy and celebrate in what is always a short half term.  These have included the Year 3/4 production, a Yr 1/2 theme day, Historic England Heritage virtual concert, NSPCC Number Day and a local football tournament.

As we consider planning for the next half term, we will review the safety measures we have in place and keep you informed of any changes.  We also know that the expected wider changes nationally may be brought forward and will continue to be guided by the DfE and the Local Authority in what the expectations for us will be.

Founders/Thinking Day

On 22 February rainbows, beavers, cubs, brownies, scouts and guides celebrate Founders/Thinking Day. It is a tradition for them to wear their group uniform to school on that day, and we will be supporting this if your child wishes so to do.  If they have PE that day we recommend they wear part of their uniform alongside their main sports kit to ensure they are still appropriately dressed for PE.

Covid Update:

Our Covid page on the school website (accessible here) is updated with our current safety systems and any documentation published to us for understanding latest changes. 

Admin Updates:

1. Pre-booking school dinners - please ensure you pre-book your children's school dinner meals, including for Reception and year 1/ 2, preferably a week in advance. We have had many children expecting school hot dinners, or school packed lunches, this week which were not booked.  One day this week we had 45 children expecting school dinners which were not booked.  If the kitchen have such vast differences between booked and expected dinners we simply may not have enough food to be able to feed those who have not booked in advance.

2. School Dinner Menu update -

      a. Week commencing 21^st Feb we will be on week 2,  which includes the Chicken Katsu on Thursday.  This dish is Chicken Nuggets & rice, with the option of having the Katsu sauce as a dipping sauce.  The chicken does not come covered in the sauce.
