Year 6 Cambridgeshire Dynamo Cricket Competition 2025 for the Swavesey 'Green' Team.

A busy afternoon of scoring runs, taking wickets, many, many catches and great teamwork...
The final ever primary school competition, for 20 Year 6s, took place on Wednesday 11th June at Foxton Cricket Club, for the Cambridgeshire Dynamo Cricket Schools Competition.
As it wasn't a SCSSP competition, we knew that most of the teams would have many regular cricketers from local clubs playing, so the day would be full of challenges. Each team was placed in either the 'green' or 'blue' league (on a separate news report, as this is so long!)
Swavesey 'Green' had a game straight away against Trumpington Park, which was a very close game, with Swavesey losing by 68 runs to 73. Straight into the second match against Coton. Swavesey 'green' were outstanding in this game, finishing victorious, by 103 runs to 44 runs! Our third match was against a team who regularly play together at weekends, Barnabas Oley. This was a really tough game but Swavesey 'green' were extremely proud, losing by only 104 runs to 90 runs. The umpire complimented the team and was surprised when told that none of the team played cricket regularly outside of school !
Swavesey 'green' finished 3rd in the league, so after lunch we played three teams we hadn't yet met, from the 'red' and 'blue' leagues. Our first game was against Foxton 'red' and we won comfortably by 137 runs to 39 runs. The next was against Trumpington Park 'red', which Swavesey won by 139 runs to 50 runs. Our final game was against Foxton 'blue', which we won by 122 runs to 28 runs.
Swavesey 'green' were very proud of their efforts, and they all agreed that 'Buddy' was player of the team, having made 7 catches during the day.
Here's what the team thought about the event:
Alice A: I learnt that even if you 'make a mistake', it doesn't mean you 'mess up' the whole game!
Olive: always trust yourself, don't be scared to have a go!
Lenny: It was really fun. I learnt to keep my eye on the ball more and not get distracted.
Moses: I enjoyed it a lot. When batting, communication is key!
Johaan: Trust yourself, even if you don't think you will win.
Bertie: CONCENTRATE and never give up!
Archie: Always keep your head up and stay focussed.
Buddy: I caught 7 players out, and I realised I'm a great fielder, but I like batting too!
Zac: I learnt that I can absolutely wallop the ball!
Oliver: I really enjoyed playing cricket all day, and it was a lot of fun.
