On Tuesday 30th June, two teams of Year 4's travelled to Babraham Cricket Ground, to take part in the final 'SCSSP' event of this school year, the' Year 3 / 4 Dynamo Cricket' tournament, against ten other primary schools.

The standard of cricket on display was outstanding throughout the day, with pupils showcasing excellent teamwork, fine batting performances and some brilliant fielding skills in a series of highly competitive matches.

Teams competed in two groups, playing each other in a round-robin format before the final standings were determined.

Swavesey 1 were in 'Lord's' league. Their first match was against Great Abington, which was extremely close, with Swavesey digging deep and winning by 78 runs to 77!  Their next match against Meldreth finished with a win of 100 runs to 61 runs.   Their next was against Fen Drayton, with a 91 to 56 run win for Swavesey. Swavesey 1 finished the day with a match against Histon and Impington Park, who had also won their three previous matches too. Swavesey worked really hard, but eventually lost by 45 runs to 111. Histon & Impington Park claimed top spot, with Swavesey 1 as 'Runners-Up'

Swavesey 2 were in 'The Oval' league. Their first match was against Girton Glebe, and ended with a Swavesey win of 61 runs to 52. The second match was against Thriplow, who dominated the league with a couple of 'County' players in their team! Swavesey worked really hard but lost by 90 runs to 34. The next against Trumpington finished with an 87-to-55 run win. The final match was against Petersfield and again, the team rallied together and won by 102 runs to 68! Thriplow Primary School, who won all of their matches, finished in first place, with Swavesey 2 as 'Runners-Up'.

A team of Sports Leaders from Bassingbourn Village College, did a superb job umpiring and scoring every match, helping the event run smoothly from start to finish.

A huge well done to both teams, representing Swavesey with enthusiasm, determination and great sportsmanship. Well done to Jasmine for showing real resilience and determination, playing after being stung on the neck whilst eating her lunch!

The children all received a certificate and cricket bracelet in assembly on Thursday, celebrating their day with the rest of the school.
