'BEE' NETBALL, Round ONE of the new season 2026/27

Challenging and competitive games, throughout the first round of tournaments, for both Swavesey teams!
On Tuesday 6th October, the first round of the SCSSP 'BEE' Netball tournament started, for the 2026/27 season. Two teams travelled to Northstowe Secondary School, straight after school, thanks to parents / carers transporting them.
After winning the A, B leagues and County Finals last season, opposition schools played with even more determination in all of their games against us, to try and win! Swavesey teams would need to show real resilience and team work throughout.
Swavesey A played Willingham in their first match and finished with a 7-0 WIN, with recognition to Sofia, who scored five of the goals! Swavesey B played Willingham B and were also victorious with a 6-0 WIN!
Match two for Swavesey A was against Pendragon A, who were determined to beat us. The game was sooooo close and with only a minute to go, Swavesey had possession and a chance to win, when Ethan took a bad tumble onto his elbow, but jumped straight up to regain the ball. As he took a final shot at goal in the final seconds, his elbow injury caused him to become unbalanced, and as the ball was released and hit the edge of the hoop, the final whistle was blown. The final score, a very fair 5-5 draw. Swavesey B played Barhill B in their second game, which ended with an 8-1 victory for Swavesey B.
Swavesey A played Barhill in their third match, which was very up and down the court, without many attempts at goal, but Swavesey A won 2-1, in a close game. Swavesey B played Pendragon B, which also proved low-scoring, but they managed a 2-1 WIN too.
Swavesey A played their final match of the afternoon against Girton Glebe, with Swavesey winning 7-0.
Miss Bennett and I are extremely proud of both teams' performances during the afternoon. Round One is always a very early round and there are lots of nerves on the courts. Every player worked hard individually, and as a team player. BOTH TEAMS finished in FIRST PLACE in their league, which is a great start, but still a lot of training to do before Round TWO in March . . .
Thank you to the parents / carers for their support and 'transport' services, and to Miss Bennett for accompanying me to the event, to be with Swavesey B.
Well done and congratulations to both teams.
