Swavesey Boys Sunday Celebrations!

Swavesey Boys celebrate at the Under 11 Cambridgeshire County Cross Country Championship!

On Sunday 21st January, 4 boys from Swavesey Primary School took part in the Cambridgeshire Cross Country Championships 2024, in the Under 11 Boys race. There were 46 runners in total.

Two Year 6’s ran, with Daniel finishing in 20th position and Alyn, (who was running for Cambridge Tri Club), finishing in 35th position.

Year 5 Moses, who finished in 1st Place at the recent Wimpole Cross Country event in December, finished in an amazing 5th position, and brave Year 4 Henry, challenged himself to take part and finished in 39th position, against much older boys.

Their combined efforts meant that Swavesey finished 5th as a U11 Team overall, which is outstanding as the team was made up of Years 6, 5 and 4!!!

Here are some comments from the boys…

Henry: I was very nervous but liked it and am proud of myself because there were lots of big runners there, but I would do it again.

Alan: I’ve done the race before but still feel nervous at the start. The conditions were muddy and frozen plus windy on the final stretch.

Daniel: I haven’t done the race before and was nervous, but I thought, if I don’t do well, I know it’s a tough race and on the upward stretch I did feel tired and was pipped at the finish line by another boy! I was still elated to finish 20th though.

Moses: Before the start, my stomach felt like sludge but as soon as I started running, it felt like Golden Mile club but faster, so it was OK. At the end I thought, how did I do that, 5th place?!

Well done boys, the school is extremely proud of you all.
