Round 1 of the 'BEE' Netball League 2025 commences!

Both teams refuelling between matches...

On Tuesday 21st October, the 'BEE' League Netball Tournament commenced at Northstowe Secondary School. Both teams were very nervous but excited as they knew they had worked hard at training during their early morning club sessions.

The 'A' team, of Year 6 players had four matches to play during the afternoon, against local cluster schools in the SCSSP. The matches were only 6 minutes long, with a rolling clock at half time for bib changes. All players rotate positions for every match, to gain experience in all areas of the court, before progressing to 7 aside matches in secondary school.

The team were amazing at marking their opposition, getting into space and scoring lots and lots of goals ( alot were captured in photos, available in the gallery). The 'A' team WON all of their matches...

Here are the results: vs Willingham  (WON 5-0) / vs Pendragon (WON 9-0) / vs Pathfinder (WON 9-0) / vs Barhill (WON 11-0). Amazing results, so well done to the team!

The 'B' Team, who had three Year 5s playing their first ever competitive matches, had 5 matches in their league. They all played really well as a team and again, great marking and space finding, as well as plenty of goals, some players scoring for the first time ever!

The 'B' team, who had WON all of their matches until one game, when they lost by two goals, in a very close match. The team were a bit disappointed, until organiser Claire McDonnell from the SCSSP spoke to me to explain that the team they had lost against had played their 'A' team by accident, which meant that Swavesey'B' were quite jubilant, after such a narrow defeat!

Here are the results of the 'B' Team: vs Pendragon B (WON 3-0) / vs Barhill B  ( WON 2-0) / vs Pendragon C (WON 5-1) / Pathfinder A (LOST 3-1). What an outstanding effort from you all, showing great sportsmanship in defeat too.

Thank you to Miss Bennett for accompanying me to the event, and to all the parents / carers for their amazing support.

The results have been sent through from the SCSSP, and Swavesey 'A' finished in 1st place in their league with Swavesey 'B' finishing 2nd in their league ( due to the one loss only), which is a brilliant result overall!

Round 2 will take place in March, so lots of practice before then ...

Lots of photos are available to view in the gallery.
