A 'DOUBLE VICTORY' for 'PURPLE HOUSE' at the Swavesey School Games 2026

A great day of competition, team work, friendship and sunshine!
On Monday 29th June, on a sunny day, thankfully without the intense heat of the previous week, the Swavesey 'School Games 2026' were able to take place.
The morning session was for KS2, to show off their skills, working their way around ten zones; space hopper, big ball tennis relay, hurdles, sack race, football slalom, 3 ball shuttle run, vortex howler, cone pick up, cricket wicket, and obstacle course.
Year 9, newly trained Sports Leaders from SVC joined us to support teachers in each zone, scoring and helping to organise the teams. I'm sure you'll agree, if you were there, that they all did a fantastic job. The children rotated around zones in their house colours, with great enthusiasm throughout the morning, and received great support from parents / carers in attendance.
The competition was very close as usual, but 'PURPLE' house were victorious this year, with the following results; 1st PURPLE 5478 points / 2nd YELLOW 5451 points / 3rd GREEN 5243 points / 4th RED 5109 points / 5th BLUE 4868 points.
The afternoon was quite a lot warmer, so event timings were reduced slightly, to keep the children safe in the heat. The events were similar to KS2, apart from two events which were replaced with the 'lollipop relay' and '3 hoop' challenge, to be more age appropriate.
The children came eagerly onto the school field, this time joining zones with our own amazing Year 6 Sports Leaders running it. I received feedback during and after the event, to say how impressive our leaders were and what an inspiration they are to the younger children. All the children worked really hard to gain as many points as they could. There were lots of cheers and clapping during the afternoon but 'PURPLE' house were crowned winners following their KS2 peers ! Another close competition for all teams; 1st PURPLE 3290 points / 2nd BLUE 3149 points / 3rd GREEN 2950 points / 4th RED 2935 points / 5th YELLOW 2921 points.
Huge CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to ALL the children who took part, to ALL the staff and sports leaders who supported the event and to the parents / carers who came along to support either or both events. I couldn't do it without you all.
