Author Visit during our Celebratory Reading Week
We had a super day on Wednesday when two authors visited our school, Greg Hodder and Pip Barber showcasing their books, Love Birds and Cambridge Punting.
We enjoyed listening to their stories and discovering what helped them become great writers. Key Stage 2 explored how the love birds worked together as a team, overcoming difficulties, just like we do at school when we work as a tight-knit community.
Reception and Key Stage One explored some favourite places and places that they are familiar with in Swavesey, which they might use when writing their own stories.
Some of us even had the opportunity to meet the author and get a signed copy of their book.
One parent has kindly written in to say how her daughter went home ‘so bubbly and enthusiastic after school, telling me about the session their class had with Pip Barber and then she was so pleased to see her again and get a signed book.’
What lovely feedback!
If you missed the book sale at the end of the day, you can still purchase a book at a discounted price, by clicking on the link in the leaflet below from Cambridge Children’s Books and use the code SWAVE40.
